High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) used to assess the extent and severity of pulmonary disease and evaluates lung parenchymal involvement in scleroderma. CT excludes lung neoplasm and evaluates pleuropericardial, esophageal, cardiac, and pulmonary arterial abnormalities. Esophageal dilatation which can lead to atelectasis can be visualized on a high-resolution CT of the lungs. Infiltrative lung diseases and mediastinal lymphadenopathy is prevalent on CT in Scleroderma subjects. |
