Imaging of perfusion and metabolic investigations of Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) can be assessed by radionuclides. The radiolabeled tracers measure arterial blood flow and muscle perfusion which helps in evaluation of functional consequences of PVD. Scintigraphic measurement of muscle perfusion detects insufficient nutritional blood flow in peripheral muscle. Graft patency can be determined simply and repeatedly, and the presence of arteriovenous shunts can be verified, localized, and quantified. Venous thrombi can be defected, and the quantification of venous system can be done using scintigraphy. |
