CT determines the size, location and extent of primary tumor, the presence or absence of atelectasis, pleural effusion, and the status of the mediastinum. These findings help in the assessment of a lung tumor and in the detection of lymph node abnormalities. It majorly helps in identifying the anatomy of the primary tumor growth. Spiral or helical CT specifically determines the changes in the lung nodules and helps in detection of pleural invasion by tumor. |
